Ordinary Time, the part of the church calendar when we catch up with all the important stuff that doesn't get a season of its own. In year B we have a short series focussed around Christ as the Bread of Life. This gives us an opportunity for a great selection of hymns, and me a chance to combine this lovely old text with a more well-known melody.
We all know the classic African-American hymn WAYFARING STRANGER, but there are perhaps not so many opportunities to sing it in church. The tune fits beautifully with this lovely Eucharistic Prayer written by Reginald Heber almost two hundred years ago, so I brought them together to share with you and your congregation.
