Where is Bread?

We all know the story of the kid who shared his lunch: the Loaves and Fishes, the Feeding of the 5,000. Carolyn originally wrote this text to sing with the tune ABBOTS LEIGH, but that tune is still under copyright, so I went looking for an alternative.

I was quite excited to discover HYMN TO JOY in the list of alternatives, because it's been on my to-do list for a while, and with Bread as a mini-theme in our lectionary at the moment, this seemed the ideal opportunity.

Three verses using music drawn from the 4th movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony gives this setting a richly textured arrangement. I hope your congregation will enjoy singing along as much as I enjoyed recording this hymn. The video matches the hymn with Giovanni Lanfranco's 1620 depiction of the events from John 6 1-15, which I sourced from http://commons.wikimedia.org.

Listen to the backing track, or preview the Lyric Video on our YouTube Channel.

Carolyn's hymns are only available for free use during this time of COVID, so these tracks will only be available for a limited time. All three versions are available for free download until Carolyn withdraws her offer.

Available as audio only, or as a Lyric Video in two sizes, this setting is a comfortable sing for all congregations.
